Why choose a Martingale Dog Collar? Or What is a Martingale Collar?

A Martingale is a safe and gentle way of having greater control over an excited dog that pulls or backs out of its collar.  Also known as a ‘Limited Slip Collar’, the Martingale is made up of two loops.  The smaller webbing loop attaches to the lead and tightens when pulled, creating an even pressure around the dog's neck.  Correctly adjusted, it will only tighten to your dog’s exact neck size and won’t choke.  Commonly used on Hounds such as Greyhounds, Lurchers, Whippets and Italian Greyhounds because of their narrow heads, which can slip out of flat head collars, it's also equally perfect for any other breed of dog.  The Martingale is often the preferred collar for rescues and loved by dog trainers as it’s the best collar for a dog that pulls and great when lead training a puppy.

Correct sizing for a Martingale Collar is especially important

When buying an Absurd Martingale you will need to measure your dog's neck to have the collar made to fit. Properly fitted this comfortable collar will hang loose until the dog pulls and then tighten to provide the safety of a non slip collar.

Please follow the instructions on How to measure for a Martingale Collar

Please enter the neck size in the comments box at the checkout, or email info@absurddesign.co.uk if you need any help or advice.

Note: Martingale collars are designed for training and leash walking so remove when your dog is in the house and/or playing.  They should not be left on unattended or unleashed dogs.

For your dog's safety, attach ID tags to the metal slide of the large loop not the d-ring on the small loop.
